Travel advisories issued for sections of Highway 16 and 97

NORTHERN BC- Drive BC has issued a travel advisory for a section of Highway 16 due to winter road conditions caused by freezing rain. The advisory is in effect between Purden Ski Hill Rd and Longworth Access Road for 25.5 km. Drivers are being warned to slow down and drive to winter conditions.

Additionally, residents are being warned to not travel unless it is absolutely necessary on Highway 97 between Kloss Rd and 52nd St NW. This is a 147.8km stretch of roadway from Chetwynd to 16 km north of Mcleod Lake.

A travel advisory has also been issued for both directions of Highway 97 between Weiland Rd and Watkins Rd for 33.5 km in Chetwynd. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary due to freezing rain and snow in the area.
